NLAT 2026: Exam Eligibility

To participate in the NLAT 2026, candidates must meet the qualifying conditions listed below.

• Candidates must pass Class 12 or equivalent from a recognized board in any stream with a minimum of 50% aggregate.
• Candidates who have finished Class 12 from the International Baccalaureate (IB) board shall be either IB certificate/DP issued with a minimum of 24 total credits having passed 3 HL and 3 SL mandatorily from any stream.
• If the marksheet provided by the appropriate board is in percentile, the real aggregate percentage of all the subjects in which the candidate has appeared will be taken into account.
• Those candidates who have not received a grade or have failed any of the subjects listed on their marksheet are unable to apply for the test.
• Candidates taking the final Class 12 examinations are also eligible to apply. However, such individuals must submit their qualifying certificates at the time of admission and meet the conditions listed above within the time frame specified.

NLAT 2026: Registration Fee

The NLAT registration fee depends on the number of schools the candidate is applying for and the number of attempts (retakes). The application fee is mentioned below.

NLAT 2026: Application Process

To register for NLAT 2026, follow the steps given below:

• Visit the official website of NMIMS.
• Click on the Apply Now button and create an account.
• Candidates can complete registration by picking the appropriate test category from NMIMS-NPAT / NMIMS-CET / NMIMS-LAT / NMIMS-MST and campus preferences.
• One can select multiple test categories / multiple schools and multiple program preferences. They can also select multiple attempts for each category.
• The registration fees depend on the number of schools selected for each test category and the total retakes.
• Once the fee is paid, candidates can schedule their test dates and retakes. 1 main and 2 retakes for each of the categories are permitted.
• Candidates should not register multiple times for the same exam category as it will lead to the candidate being blocked from admission.
• After successful registration and payment, the applicant will be able to schedule the examinations by selecting the test date/s and test center.
• Test dates/center availability will be subject to its capacity and will be done on a first come first serve basis.
• Once the main exam is delivered, candidates cannot add a new school in the same category for a retake, but may add a new category of test.
• Finish your registration by scheduling all tests.

Required Documents for Application

The candidates must upload the following documents in the application form:

• Two Passport-size photographs of the candidate.
• Scanned image of the signature (on white paper with a black ink pen).

The format, size, and dimensions of the documents are given below.

Note: The name on the Aadhaar card and NMIMS registration form must be identical. Candidates should keep their AAPAR ID / ABC ID (Academic Bank of Credits) ready before filling the registration form.

NLAT 2026: Slot Booking

Slot booking is only open to paying candidates. Candidates who have successfully registered can choose the date and location of the NLAT 2026

However, whether the candidate is assigned to the requested slot is determined by the test centre's capacity. As a result, this facility is accessible on a first-come, first-served basis.

NLAT 2026: Admit Card

The applicant will receive the admit card via their email ID after slot booking. A confirmation email will be sent as well. Alternatively, the candidate can download the admit card from the link on the official NMIMS website using their login credentials.

The processes for downloading the NLAT admit card are as follows.

• Visit the official website
• Log in to see the candidate's dashboard
• Click the admit card link
• The NMIMS LAT 2026 admission card will be displayed on the screen
• Download and store for future reference

The candidate must also carry their original ID (Voter's ID / Passport / Aadhaar Card / Driving License (Learner's license not accepted) / 12th Admit Card with photo / PAN Card) on the test day.

NLAT 2026: Result

NLAT 2025 results will be made available online after exams are over. The results are put out as a merit list. Candidates can also obtain individual scorecards by entering their login information and password.

• Click on the NMIMS LAT 2026 results link
• Log in using your ID and password
• The NMIMS LAT 2026 results will be presented on the screen
• Download and save the results for later use

Note: Candidates can only take the NLAT exam three times: one main attempt and two retakes. In such a case, the best score from the three tries would be considered for admission.

NLAT 2026: Preparation Tips

• Know the syllabus and exam pattern thoroughly Start by understanding all 5 sections: Verbal Reasoning, General Knowledge, Quantitative Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Legal Reasoning; with 30 questions each and no negative marking. Knowing the pattern helps you plan your time and attempts strategically.
• Practice mock tests regularly Attempt as many mock tests as possible. Since there is no negative marking, aim to attempt all 150 questions. Mock tests help build speed, accuracy, and exam-day confidence.
• Focus on Verbal and Logical Reasoning first Based on past exam analysis, Verbal and Logical Reasoning are the highest-scoring sections. Prioritise these in your preparation to maximise your score quickly.
• Read newspapers daily for GK and Current Affairs Read a national daily like The Hindu or The Indian Express every day. This covers both Current Affairs and Static GK, which together form the entire GK section.
• No legal knowledge needed for Legal Reasoning Unlike CLAT, NLAT's Legal Reasoning section does not require prior law knowledge. Focus on understanding how to apply given legal principles to hypothetical situations, it is purely analytical.
• Practise quantitative reasoning from basics Brush up on Class 10 level maths, number systems, percentages, ratio and proportion, speed-time-distance, and probability. The QR section is moderate but can be time-consuming.
• Consider CLAT preparation material Since NLAT and CLAT share a very similar structure and syllabus, CLAT mock tests and preparation material are highly useful for NLAT preparation as well.
• Attempt all 3 tries strategically You get 1 main attempt and 2 retakes. If your first attempt doesn't go well, use the retakes. Your best score across all attempts is considered, so there's no penalty for trying again.
